On a Winter's day
February kicks off with a snow day! The flakes are coming down fluffy outside and there's a fire in the fireplace. Cozy and warm on a winter's day.

let it snowman
My daughter loves snowmen! A trip to the Sapporo snow festival in Japan would be quite the Christmas prezzy!

Farewell Sochi
The Winter Olympics are winding down. Somehow these games seemed less dramatic that past. Maybe that's why the giant matryoshka made to the top of my highlight reel.

Anno's Counting Book
A couple of months ago I was trying to remember a book I had as a child. I was describing it to my parents, it's got beautiful landscape illustrations, and more and more trees are added with each page. Today it popped into my head, Anno's Counting Book. The blanket of snow outside reminded me so much of this page.

I heart winter
I think I'm in the minority on this one, but I really enjoy winter (and I don't even play winter sports!) I love to feel all snuggly inside looking out on a beautiful snowy landscape. This image sums it up.

log carrier roundup
Now that I've got a fireplace, it opens up a whole new category of accessorizing. We've been borrowing my Dad's old L.L. Bean log carrier circa 1983 (don't make 'em like they used to!) but it's time to get our own. Here's a good roundup of options.

capturing winter
I took this photo of a snowflake stuck to my windshield last winter. Then it was a common ocurrance, but this year has been virtually snow free. I'm eagerly anticipating a very wintery weekend up in Ithaca. I'm excited to finally get a dose of some wonderland magic!

Winter Nights
Unlike what seems like the rest of the world, I enjoy winter. It's disappointing that we haven't gotten much snow yet, but there are still aspects of the season I enjoy. A favorite is the blue light as the sun is setting. It's so cozy to be snuggling inside enjoying views like this.

Resolutions
I'm not one to make New Year's resolutions, but I'm going to stick with the plan of working out more so I can eat more Winter treats like these.

ranch
I like the idea of living in a ranch house, but not the 1950s cookie cutter version I grew up in. This set of beautifully photographed twin houses is a design I could get behind. It will look much more winter snuggly after I take out the extremely minimalist furniture.

Getting into the season
Who can't use another pair of legwarmers? OK, so I don't have any in my current rotation, but these would keep me cozy all winter long.

bleh
I am solidly in the midst of the Winter blues. Plus I've had a slow healing injury impeding my ability to workout. I am hoping this upcoming storm will take a turn north so we get walloped in Brooklyn. A coating of snow makes everything look so peaceful and lovely. Then I will stop feeling like this:

Bring it on, Winter
I think these Sorel boots are just the thing to keep winter enjoyable well into March (please, God, not April). Frostbite will be conquered and fashionability will be maintained. What else could a snow bunny wish for?
