Last night I tried to see To Rome With Love, the newest release from Woody Allen, but it was sold out.  A good sign for my favorite director (though it was only showing in 1 theater in NYC) but a bummer for me.  I shall try, try again.

My first week at the new job started with a bang!  There was an employee only sample sale, and I cleaned up!  And I actually like the job to boot.  Things are seriously looking up.

Zarna

In my quest to get to know Nashville as a native (I'm half Nashvillian by marriage) I came across Zarna's Runway.  It's an amazing personal style blog AND here she is modeling the same exact style dress I got from a thrift shop in Nashville on my last visit.  My version is slightly longer and in red, and I've been hesitant about exactly how to style it (and it needs a petite alteration) and here Zarna is showing me the way.    Thanks, buddy!

I've taken a shine...

These Shine by Sho chandeliers are always appealing when I see them in stores around town.  I think it's cause they're like pieces of  funky jewelry to hang from your ceiling.  And who can resist funky jewelry in any form?  (Not this girl.)

Last night, to celebrate our 4th anniversary we went on a lovely sunset sail.  The weather was ideal, the bubbly was flowing... love was in the air!

summer knits

This combines a few things I can't get enough of lately: knits (but for summer?  that's crazy talk!) and collars.  With the unappealing exchange rate though, I think I'm destined to love it from afar.

Jelly Fish

My Grandparents used to rent a house in Greenport, NY for the summer, where I used to go hunting for the most fantastic jelly fish I've ever seen in person.  They were enormous, exotic creatures that I would capture in pails and examine until my parents made me release them back into the water.  A few times they would sneak up on me and I'd get stung, but that's par for the course in all worthwhile relationships, I guess.

Mad Metro

Commuting into the city on Metro North from Westchester is always much more romantic than taking the subway.  This morning I came in to work straight from my parents' house and the hustle and bustle of the commute had a much more civilized feel.  Very Mad Men (before Don moved to the city).

I love looking at old photos of NYC.  There's almost a thousand images of NYC from the past 100 years that are now available to the public for the first time.  Glorious!

This last image of 40th St and 6th Ave is right where I used to work!  Oh, how times have changed since WWII.

It's always exciting to see artist reinterpreting everyday materials in their work.  In this case, it's particularly exciting to see the form that Jennifer Maestre gave to her colored pencils.  Sea Urchins are a creature I can't get enough of!
