loving my kitchen

Our kitchen has yet to cross the finish line, but let's just call it love.

losing the dream

I've been hunting for flush mount chandeliers for my height challenged living room.  It's a tough one.  I found perfection... at $32k.  Sigh.  Dreams dashed.  The hunt continues.

Fornasetti Book Ends

An extravagant accessory for the person who has every other extravagance (and some very visible sides of books).

Outdoor Accessories

It's finally getting warm out and we're prepping for summer in the backyard.  I came across this cute napkin holder.  Cute for windy days, but seems like it could be an easy DIY too.

log carrier roundup

Now that I've got a fireplace, it opens up a whole new category of accessorizing.  We've been borrowing my Dad's old L.L. Bean log carrier circa 1983 (don't make 'em like they used to!) but it's time to get our own.  Here's a good roundup of options.

an interesting specimen

I've always wanted to display these creatures in my home.  I might be the only person under 80 to be craving taxidermied butterfly home decor, but hey, i dig it.  Arting it up in this nest!

Rug Obsessed

A friend sent me this image of unknown origin.  I cannot get it out of my mind.  Good luck to the rug that tries to take its place in my living room.

Update: found it here

Coasting

Decorating our house is a fun and overwhelming process!  Sometimes it's easier to focus on the little things than say, a sofa.

I could make that

Or could I?  I'm about to find out.  Hopefully, the time to move into my new house is this weekend!  Our overwhelming lack of furniture and house objects in general, plus lack of excitement for shelling out big bucks makes me ask, could I make that? about everything I come across.  I think I could replicate the over saturation of this ABC color reform rug by dying over a lightly colored oriental rug.  And the Marc Phillips rug would involve me getting all Jackson Pollack in the backyard.  It will be an experiment!

grey waves

What a lovely wallpaper print.  Now that I'm on the verge of closing on a house, I'm in full design fantasy mode.
