I first noticed these Isabel Marant Willow sneakers on a fellow passenger on my flight to Nashville for Christmas. How intriguing! Naturally, I thought she was pretty rad, so when I discovered the origin of these sneakers I was all ready to buy a pair of my very own... until I saw that they were $700+. Seriously?! Sigh... I guess I'll continue to admire them on other rad chicks.

all work and no play
This month I've been working my tail off and neglecting this blog, and just about everything else in my life. Hopefully I'm getting ahead of my projects and sleep fulled nights await me. Until then, I'll be living the grind.

Winter Nights
Unlike what seems like the rest of the world, I enjoy winter. It's disappointing that we haven't gotten much snow yet, but there are still aspects of the season I enjoy. A favorite is the blue light as the sun is setting. It's so cozy to be snuggling inside enjoying views like this.
Political Laundry
This laundry hamper is about as political as I want to get this election season. Maybe I'll get into it down the stretch, but right now it's just a sad state of affairs. This elephant is a whole lot more friendly than G.O.P. debates.

Wu take 2
My first blog post back in January '09 was about Jason Wu, inspired by his looks for the First Lady. Now he's on the verge of launching a collection for Target. Most of Target's collaborations have fallen short of the hype in my opinion, but I'm optimistic about this one. We'll find out on February 5th!

wine design
With our servers down, we're all having a Don Draper Friday afternoon at the office. Doing business half in the bag is even more stylish with this wine bottle design:
a shoe for all seasons
How necessary! Versatile, weatherproof... ok, not so much, but they're awesome AND on sale! Who needs further justification?
The Places I'll Go
We're thinking of taking a significant adult vacation this summer (plane AND hotel). We've got some friends in London and Vienna, so those are top on the list of possible destinations. Luckily, we both enjoy hiking, so if we end up in Austria we can do this...
"Austria's Green Lake in the Hochschwab Mountains is a hiking trail in the winter. The snow melts in early summer and creates a completely clear lake. The lake has a grassy bottom, complete with underwater trails, park benches, and bridges."

Resolutions
I'm not one to make New Year's resolutions, but I'm going to stick with the plan of working out more so I can eat more Winter treats like these.

glitter purse!
Why not ring in the new year with a glitter purse? All the retailers are having killer sales, so stocking up is really just being thrifty. Use code shopnow for an extra 25% off. Not hording, thrifty.
Here it is: 2012
2012 was ushered in with a case of champagne, and now it's here, feeling preeeetty much like 2011, but good things are ahead. Good things at work, good things at home, good things all around. Positivity to start the new year.

Happy New Year's Eve!
This year we'll be watching the ball drop in Northampton, MA with some old friends. Friends, food and a hot tub. What more could you ask for?

27th Nutcracker
Last night I went to the New York City Ballet's Nutcracker with my mom for the 27th year in a row. It's one of my favorite holiday traditions. That and cookies.

Digits of Chrome
I'm forever on the search for a good chrome nail polish that is truly mirrored. Sally Hanson comes close, but the perfect look still eludes me.
NYC Festivities
This year I had a Country Christmas in Nashville, but not before I got my annual NYC Christmas date to see the shop windows, the Rockefeller Center tree and dinner at Brasserie Ruhlmann.

Spicy
Yesterday I met a friend at Spice Market for lunch. We explored the lower level and discovered all these delightful tucked away nooks for private dining. One day I'll dine privately in public.
Stripes are the new Plaid
I'm not sure where this image originated from, but I found it here. My husband and I have noticed around Brooklyn that stripes are the new plaid. This chair and ottoman agree.
Liz
Quick, there's still time to run over to Christie's and get you very own piece of Liz Taylor memerobelia! This charm bracelet fetched $362,500 but you can probably get a deal on her script for National Velvet.

Marcheeeeeesa
Here I was thinking I'd gotten really carried away buying a Notte by Marchesa gown for my black tie Christmas party on Friday, but after exploring the Marchesa website, there's a whole other level that I could have taken it to.
