Happy Turkey!

I won't be celebrating Thanksgiving wearing this hat (cause it's gonna be 72 in Nashville!  And, it's just silly), but I will be in a festive mood.  Nothing makes me happier than celebrating with food.  Bring it.

Or could I?  I'm about to find out.  Hopefully, the time to move into my new house is this weekend!  Our overwhelming lack of furniture and house objects in general, plus lack of excitement for shelling out big bucks makes me ask, could I make that? about everything I come across.  I think I could replicate the over saturation of this ABC color reform rug by dying over a lightly colored oriental rug.  And the Marc Phillips rug would involve me getting all Jackson Pollack in the backyard.  It will be an experiment!

Humor in the Month of November

My dad alerted me to this New Yorker cover.  I've had the Norman Rockwell poster hanging in my childhood bedroom for years.  Glad they picked up the reference for a good cause!

Aftermath

It's amazing to see all these dramatic photos of the storm, especially since my neighborhood in Park Slope had it easy.  I say good morning and goodnight to Jane's Carousel as I pass on the Q train every day.  I've never seen it like this.  I hope this gem didn't get damaged too badly.

I happened to be up at Woodbury Commons for work on Friday and got to visit the brand new Jack Spade outlet on its opening day.  I scored this awesome tote that I was devastated I had missed at the regular store.  Another example where good things come to procrastinators.

Coming Up Aces

It's been an intense period of travel for me lately.  In the beginning of September I went to Seattle for the first time on a business trip.  I stayed at the Ace hotel, which had some picture perfect views, but lacked a little functionality with no place to spread out toiletries in the bathroom.  The National Geographics from the '70s were a bonus though.

Movin' On Up!

It appears as though I'm about to begin a new chapter in life.  My life in the country (okay, suburbs) is about to begin.  I'm excited to leave all the unpleasant city things behind (critters, noise) while having all the good things within reach (art, energy).

Seriously though.  Have you noticed the obsession with 1968?  It's everywhere.  I guess I missed out, but I'm glad my best years are ahead of me.

I Art This Birthday

I spent my birthday with great friends, great art, and the great outdoors.  MASS MoCA has a fantastic exhibit of Sol Lewitt's work.  Hurry, it's only going to stick around for another 25 years.

A Slice of New York

A few years ago we went on a self curated pizza tour of NYC.  It was a delicious way for a couple of poor kids to entertain themselves, but the result is that when people ask, "where's the best pizza in New York?"  we can answer... Di Fara!  It's a little hole in the wall in Midwood, but the secret is out, so you'll have to wait in line for at least an hour.  While you wait, you get to watch this guy in action, and reassure yourself that some things never change...

This past weekend I went up to the Berkshires with my parents to celebrate their 39th anniversary.  It was hot as balls, but I cooled off at this fountain on Naumkeag's beautiful grounds.

I've been enjoying my new subscription to the New Yorker (though it can be a challenge to get through an entire magazine in a week- sad but true).  What better way to take the New Yorker to the beach than this guy:

A lunch hour stroll through Madison Square Park revealed this exciting instillation.

Last night I tried to see To Rome With Love, the newest release from Woody Allen, but it was sold out.  A good sign for my favorite director (though it was only showing in 1 theater in NYC) but a bummer for me.  I shall try, try again.

My first week at the new job started with a bang!  There was an employee only sample sale, and I cleaned up!  And I actually like the job to boot.  Things are seriously looking up.

In my quest to get to know Nashville as a native (I'm half Nashvillian by marriage) I came across Zarna's Runway.  It's an amazing personal style blog AND here she is modeling the same exact style dress I got from a thrift shop in Nashville on my last visit.  My version is slightly longer and in red, and I've been hesitant about exactly how to style it (and it needs a petite alteration) and here Zarna is showing me the way.    Thanks, buddy!

These Shine by Sho chandeliers are always appealing when I see them in stores around town.  I think it's cause they're like pieces of  funky jewelry to hang from your ceiling.  And who can resist funky jewelry in any form?  (Not this girl.)
