Nesting the Sequel

I had a major nesting period in my late pregnancy, and it's resurfacing again now.  Probably due to the oppressive weather.  I'm forced to be indoors, so I've become obsessed with indoors!  A rug, art and lamps have all arrived, but I still need more, more, more progress!

wearing the green

The whole family wore green for St Pat's on Monday.  We didn't quite look as polished as this, but we did alright.

Vintage Christmas

'Tis the season for some of the best Christmas shopping.  I'm in the mood for Christmas all year round!

Girls, Girls, Girls

My ever generous employer provided everyone in the company with this piece of eye candy today.  My favorite image inside was this gem staged in a row of brownstones on 58th St that were about to be demolished.

On the Prowl

I've been on the lookout for a vintage fur coat for several years.  I missed a crucial opportunity to get one at a great price when Petrune was overstocked the winter I lived in Ithaca.  Sadly, I was feeling poor then, so I restrained myself from snapping one up, but I'm hopeful that my future fur is hiding right around the corner.  Here's one that tickles me.

Zarna

In my quest to get to know Nashville as a native (I'm half Nashvillian by marriage) I came across Zarna's Runway.  It's an amazing personal style blog AND here she is modeling the same exact style dress I got from a thrift shop in Nashville on my last visit.  My version is slightly longer and in red, and I've been hesitant about exactly how to style it (and it needs a petite alteration) and here Zarna is showing me the way.    Thanks, buddy!

Lacroix, ooh la la

Ladybugs are always lovely.  Side note based on the 1st dibs item description- are the '90s vintage?  Am I super old?

The Fun Part

There's definitely some perks to working for a fashion company.  Especially when you're surrounded by things of this nature.

I also enjoy conversations with coworkers like this:

Me: I think that space would look better if it were open
Katie: But then you wouldn’t have any place to put gnomes
Me: We’re putting gnomes up there?
Katie: Duh.

Vintage Violet Vixen

I surf 1st dibs primarily for furniture, but occasionally I wander off into jewelry and vintage clothing too.  It's representative of my life and career in general, actually.
You kill me, pockets.  KILL ME!!!

Antique Find of the Day

Does it get any better than this antique bowling trophy?  How come objects have gone so downhill since 1893?

Needing!

This vintage... blanket sewn together to be a dress?  whatever... is SO sweet!  If I end up getting it, I think I would hem off the fringe.

gimme

Cup of Jo is having the all time best giveaway: an Allen Company Vintage gift certificate. Now that I've come across their shop, their pieces will haunt my dreams. I would definitely have a hard time choosing between this cape and necklace.

wiser me

Yesterday was my birthday, and I celebrated with 2 days of fun, friends and food! Notably, I got some delightful vintage things from Petrune, my new favorite store of all time. They have a Mad Med theme in the window now, complete with Scotch. Looking forward to celebrating more over the long weekend.

Petrune to the rescue!

I moved up to Ithaca from Brooklyn a few weeks ago. The transition is going smoothly for the most part, however, the shopping dilemma is a little extreme. There's not even an H&M within a 100 mile radius. Today I explored the shops in the commons. The breakdown is as follows: 99% head shops and hippie wear, and 1% Petrune, the vintage shop that will save my life for 2 years. The prices are SICK compared to Brooklyn; many dresses are in the $30 range. I saw a necklace I've added to the b-day wish list pictured in this photo taken from their blog. Thanks, Petrune!

Vintage is a Girl's Best Friend

Elle introduced me to this site with this adorable (albeit, sold out) necklace. Some of the pieces are pretty affordable. The perfect way to commemorate a special occasion... perhaps a graduation...
