Summer Splurge

I found a pair of shoes that will surely change my life... or at least my summer.  I knew I couldn't let a staple piece like this slip me by, so they're on their way to me.  Sometimes a girl needs a little treat.

crochet my way

This actually plays Sinatra's "My Way".  I mean really, does anything make you happier?

salty + sweet = irresistable

I've been giving in to some after dinner cravings lately.  It's not normally my style, but since I've given up alcohol for lent (1 more week, arrrg!) my body's need for a sugar fix is presenting itself in different ways.  I'm a pretty hard core salt addict, so when the two combine I can be a little out of control.  My latest snack obsession is the dark chocolate covered almonds with sea salt from Trader Joe's.  I am losing my mind over these!

Peplum Post

I have been loathing the peplum trend going on for the past few seasons... until I saw this look from Kenzo.  The oversize pants make all the difference.

A Year of Work

Today is my 1 year anniversary working at my current job.  If they loved me, I'd get an anniversary card like this one.  Or a cake.  Or a raise...

Word

These speakers would be quite the stylish solution to living apart from my stereo.  Hopefully their sound quality is just as appealing.

Advanced Style

I just came upon an amazing style blog featuring stylish women of a certain age.  Advanced Style celebrates a full life of stylishness and makes me excited for the advancement of my own style!  Also, I have regularly passed the orange eyelash woman in the streets of the West Village and wondered who she was.  Now I know!

My favorite quote from the blog so far, "When someone is stylish you remember the person, not the dress.  The whole should be very natural.  It shouldn't be too aggressive; it must be harmonious."  So true, so true.  Keep it up, ladies!

Rough Around the Edges

I'll say!  Lovin' these hoops with attitude.

Fortified

This is the most delicious bunch of broccoli I've ever laid eyes on- and I'm a big broccoli fan.  This day is looking up.  I think I'm gonna move into a broccoli tree house immediately.

I could really use one of these right now

Sometimes people are ridiculous.  Uuuuuugh!

deception

What an amazing concept!  This sculpture is carved from marble to look like packing styrofoam.  I can't get enough.

Peak Blooms!

The cherry blossoms were in full bloom on Saturday at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.  A bit ahead of schedule, but glorious as always.

Connect the dots, la la la la la...

Yeah, that was a Pee Wee Herman reference.  Sometimes the occasion just calls for it.  Perhaps my next tattoo should be interactive like this one:

reconsidering a classic

Vera Wang came out with a stunning jewelry collection a few years ago.  I'm not usually a pearl girl, but reminiscing about pieces like this is turning me into one.

Living in the Future

The present is enjoyable enough, but in the future I look forward to designing my own living space with lots of indoor/outdoor connections, a place for all my possessions, an art studio, and a pool.  These images will go into my inspiration pile.

lunching securely

Luckily, I've never encountered an office lunch thief, but these guys are sure to keep sammich theft at bay.  Throwing your sammich in the garbage however, is an additional concern.

I'm leavin' on a paper plane

I wish.  Spring always makes me feel like I should have an impending vacation in sight.  Maybe I'll hop on a paper plane and see where it takes me.

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood...

It's full on Spring loveliness, which is turning my attention toward Spring shoes.  I was people watching on the High Line where most passersby were rocking sandals.  Sandals in NYC in March!  I'll take it.

Whiskey in the Jar

I had a wonderful St. Patrick's Day weekend with family, friends, and 2 corned beef dinners!  I also partook in some Jameson, a new family  tradition after visiting their distillery in Ireland.  My cousin posted this great article on Irish whiskey.  Erin go bragh!

Pantone Desserts

What a deliciously colorful idea!  I've had a ravenous hunger recently.  This is not helping!

Dragon Day 2012

It's Dragon Day at Cornell!  Unfortunately, I'm in NYC, so I'm missing it, but I'm glad to know that this cool ritual exists.  Each year the first year architecture class builds a giant dragon and parades it around campus.

Here's some photos of past dragons in all their dragon splendor.

bonsai bonanza!

I enjoy the serene yet frenetically detailed sculpture of a world built around a bonsai tree.  Little worlds are my bag.

eye-perimenting

I've been experimenting with my makeup a little lately.  Nothing this crazy though.  Maybe I'll work my way up to graphic fake eyelashes.  First step: try mascara...

awakening

Spring is upon us in the most delightful of ways.  It's like an awakening from a long gloomy dream.  I'm just glad I don't have to wait another month as could be the case to enjoy the sun on my face.

Tea towels for when you're in an urban planning mood... which is always.

art for a Friday

This artwork makes me as happy as it is Friday and I'm about to get on a bus to go see my love!

why the hell is this t-shirt $92?!

I do love cats... but within reason.  $92 is unreasonable.

the real deal

I avoided the madness of the Marni for H&M opening yesterday (or rather, it avoided me since I didn't realize it was a V.I.P. only shopping event) but this necklace from their full priced line just won't be ignored.

happi mani

I'm celebrating the beautiful weather by rockin' neon tips at the office.  Now I make my escape to the High Line for lunch...

fleeting footwear

Someone I know won the lottery last month!  $10k a week for life.  If I were set like that I'd start wearing extra ridiculous things like paper shoes.

Time

I love this idea.  The pieces with the most depth of field are my favorites.  I like the idea of combining all these stories into one moment.  And of course, I'm always a sucker for the subject of my favorite city.

color block frock

I like this dress conceptually.  Color blocking and body con could either be amazing or disastrous.  An experiment I don't think I'll make... but you never know.

Das Art

Sometimes we all feel like a sinking Volkswagen.  This rendition is quite serene on 2 different scales.
