Atomic North Fork
Two weeks ago we had a getaway to the North Fork of Long Island. It was blissfully atomic, full of beautiful tastes and sites, and a much needed break from the mundane.

San Francisco Treats
A large part of my (work) trip to San Fran revolved around eating and friends. I also snuck in a trip to the Muir Woods. Travel is good.

Tucson
Last week I traveled to Tucson for business and fit in a little pleasure. The desert does a body good for a few days.

California Dreamin
I'll be doing a little West Coast travel for work in a few weeks. The dining research has already started. I've got to have a Rebel Within. Fire up the corporate credit card! I'll take one of each!

The Drake
I took a lil business trip a few weeks ago to Toronto and stayed at The Drake Hotel. Since we worked so much of the day, the hotel was the only part of Toronto we actually saw. Luckily, it was a lovely Ace-esque experience. Complete with stuffed animals to tuck me in.

Coming Up Aces
It's been an intense period of travel for me lately. In the beginning of September I went to Seattle for the first time on a business trip. I stayed at the Ace hotel, which had some picture perfect views, but lacked a little functionality with no place to spread out toiletries in the bathroom. The National Geographics from the '70s were a bonus though.

the dumbest/awesomest thing I've seen all day
Hello Kitty Airlines! Sometimes things are so dumb they're just awesome; (and vice versa) this is definitely one of those times! Can't wait to fly the kitty skies. The meals might just be the best part.

Table for 2, Please!
As a wannabe world traveler, I'd place a reservation for brunch in the Swiss Alps (literally IN the Alps) here. It would make the climb worth it (not to mention the view)!

The Places I'll Go
We're thinking of taking a significant adult vacation this summer (plane AND hotel). We've got some friends in London and Vienna, so those are top on the list of possible destinations. Luckily, we both enjoy hiking, so if we end up in Austria we can do this...
"Austria's Green Lake in the Hochschwab Mountains is a hiking trail in the winter. The snow melts in early summer and creates a completely clear lake. The lake has a grassy bottom, complete with underwater trails, park benches, and bridges."

old meets new
Why aren't I in Rome right now?! They're having an awesome exhibit of modern Italian design within classic Italian venues. I need a teleporter stat!

Up a Tree Down Under
Is New Zealand down under, or just Australia? Anyway, today's beautiful weather makes me want to commune with nature. What a beautiful dining spot!

Cape Cod Memories
My beach vacation this summer was spent on Cape Cod. I've gone there almost every summer for my whole life, and now I get to share my childhood favorites with my husband. Must dos are Mayflower Beach, the Sundae School, Kream n Kone, the Strawberry Patch and the Cape Cod Natural History Museum. This year I tried something new. We rented bikes and went for a 22 mile ride! I hadn't been on a bike in 20 years and it was a little freaky. I was whooped in the end, but it was a beautiful ride. Thanks for another wonderful trip, Cape Cod!

Sunny Florida!
I'm going to Orlando for the weekend to join Matt on his business conference. It's not exactly the getaway I'd plan in July with my aversion to the heat, but since our air conditioner is broken in NYC it might actually be a reprieve! We're going to Universal Studios on Saturday. I'm confused though, are there actual movie lots in Florida? Oh well. Hopefully the weekend looks something like this:

living the dream
Lately we've been talking about living abroad for a year or two, maybe in Copenhagen or London. We've got no details in mind, but it's a very exciting thought. Though it would be a few years off, and who knows what a few years will bring, I'm enjoying the dreaming.

Mexico!
We took a last minute trip down to Playa del Carmen to relax and get some sun. I loved going in all the handicraft stores and look at all the brightly colored goodies. I have to learn more about Mexican Halloween and the burning heart imagery. I bought a heart inside a box painted like the sky, a beautiful ceramic plate and a mini nativity scene. I took some photos of things I loved but had to leave behind, like these crosses:
