San Francisco Treats

A large part of my (work) trip to San Fran revolved around eating and friends.  I also snuck in a trip to the Muir Woods.  Travel is good.

Last night I went out to my birthday dinner at Blue Hill at Stone Barns.  My birthday was in September, but that's the wait for a reservation.  We had the 5 course tasting menu, which was a feast of flavors.  We started with vegetables from the farm.

The setting is lovely in the winter.  Walking up the lantern lit path to the restaurant with a coating of snow on the ground was very cozy.

College Daze

This print is of the diner near where I went to college.  It's famous to me for a giant $2 plate of fries.  It's famous to the world from Seinfeld, and Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner".

Table for 2, Please!

As a wannabe world traveler, I'd place a reservation for brunch in the Swiss Alps (literally IN the Alps) here.  It would make the climb worth it (not to mention the view)!

Yesterday I met a friend at Spice Market for lunch.  We explored the lower level and discovered all these delightful tucked away nooks for private dining.  One day I'll dine privately in public.

Is New Zealand down under, or just Australia?  Anyway, today's beautiful weather makes me want to commune with nature.  What a beautiful dining spot!

Little Cheese Pub

A few weeks ago we had an amazing and adorable cheesy dinner at the Little Cheese Pub.  The name alone was very enticing.  I had the French Man Mac with duck meatballs.  Highly recommend!

Turning the Corner

Now that Matt and I have a non-student lifestyle in sight, it's nice to think of all the things we can do now.  Like lunch in Milan here!

Good Friends, Good Food, Good Design.

The trifecta of what I've been missing!  OK, I've got good friends up here, but for good food and good design, I had to soak it up this weekend while visiting Brooklyn.  We met up with some friends at Tabare, which was delightful, for all reasons previously mentioned above.  All the men ordered the same thing, which quickly became dubbed the "man sandwich".  It was manly (3 kinds of meat) and delicious.

I enjoyed having a delicious and reasonably priced meal in a well designed space.  The antique lighting fixtures and warm wood panels made for a cozy dinner on a chilly night. 

Sigh, I'll be back some day...
