24 little hours

What a difference a day makes!  Somehow the whole mood of the office was different today!  Everything was less urgent and less stressful.  You could almost feel it return to its formerly paper flowered state when all was right with the world.

now THAT was a shitty day

Today was one of those days.  Work stressed me out to no end, and now all the plans I had for my birthday on Thursday are up in the air because I might not be able to take the day off to move into a new apartment AND have time left over to do something birthday-esque.  All because of work.  Why wasn't I happy as a housewife again?

Here Comes the Story of the Hurricane

I'm stranded in Ithaca for the day, which makes me very happy!  I get to have extra snuggle time with my honey and watch movies like this Bob Dylan documentary.

London Bridge is Falling Down

It seemed like all hell was breaking loose across the pond just a few weeks ago, but with this week's natural disasters in NYC (earthquake and approaching hurricane) it seems like we're the ones who should be feeling uneasy!

I've had 3 sets of great couple friends move to other cities this summer.  London, San Francisco, Boston... what's wrong New York?!  I've got great places to visit, but I'll miss having them close by.

Beekman Beer Garden

Had a fun time at the company summer party at Beekman Beer Garden.  I know a few people who may not be feeling so well tomorrow morning.  It's times like these when I definitely don't miss my twenties!

Summer Scoop Up

As Summer comes to a close, there's a lot of great sales to take advantage of.  I found these guys online, but when I went to J.Crew to check them out in person the store was closed at 8:15!  I guess the city that never sleeps makes exceptions.

Quake!

This was my second ever earthquake experience!  The first was in the '80s and it woke me up in the middle of the night.  This one I was completely unaware of.  I was going out for lunch a little before 2 and as I waited for the elevator someone told me to take the stairs.  I thought that was strange.  Then I went to Bryant Park and saw tons of people standing around.  Then it was Facebook to the rescue when I saw everyone's posts about the earthquake.  I'm sort of disappointed I missed it!

commune

If I were ever to relocate to Los Angeles (highly unlikely) I'd like to work here.  Commune is a multi-disciplinary design firm that seems to get all the coolest projects.  They even have employee design retreats!

Folded Perspective

I love this print.  I wash it was sold alone.  It wouldn't be bad to blow my rent money on art, would it?

Around the Corner

Soon, my new roomie and I will be Brooklyn girls enjoying crisp autumn afternoons in cafes wearing florals and faux fur just like this asos girl.  9/1 is right around the corner.

The Giving Tree

What a lovely way to snack!  Who says marshmallows don't grow on trees?

Pipe Dream

I'm on a lighting kick right now.  I'd love to randomly walk past a place like this.  Why no nighttime shots?

Pineapple Expression

Kissing pineapples are pretty sweet.  Even sweeter on sale.

Back to Brooklyn

Last weekend I found my new home in Park Slope!  I'm excited to be living in Brooklyn again, and to be so close to Prospect Park.  I'm looking forward to mellowing out with some good runs after work.  I'm also on the lookout for some graphic prints to decorate my walls.  This one's good, but definitely more Fort Greene than Park Slope. I miss you Fort Greene!

bringin' home the bacon

Matt got a wonderful job offer today!  He's worked hard this summer, and it's so satisfying to see it pay off!  I'm bringing home the bacon now while he's still in school (which I relish!) but today I'm the proud woman behind her man.  Bravo, Matt!

knit, sit.

Just once I'd like to see someone on the subway knitting one of these:

Vintage Violet Vixen

I surf 1st dibs primarily for furniture, but occasionally I wander off into jewelry and vintage clothing too.  It's representative of my life and career in general, actually.
You kill me, pockets.  KILL ME!!!

if 007 drank tea instead of martinis

Stealth tea is not really a necessity people have.  That's kinda what makes this great.

animalamp

These guys really know how to light up a room.  I'd love to mix them in to a very traditional space.  How could you resist their silly little faces?!

Rock, Rock, Rockaway Beach

Yesterday I went to Rockaway Beach for the first time, and it just might have become my new favorite NYC area beach.  The boardwalk has adorable hipster friendly food vendors and live music, and it's where city culture and surfing culture collide.  Love this pic of surfers riding the A train.  I assure you it was in the off season as my train was fully packed.
