It's good to start the day off with some spookyness for Halloween. I'd like to enjoy my first meal on the 31st with these.

Empire State of Mind
Baseball's not my favorite sport- far from it. But I tuned in tonight to catch Jay-Z & Alicia Keys sing my new favorite song, Empire State of Mind. Despite the PLETHORA of unflattering camera angles up Alicia's butt, it was a great performance. I'm a sucker for anything flaunting NYC pride. I'm also a sucker for black and white photos. So here ya go...
One hand in the air for the big city,
Street lights, big dreams all lookin' pretty,
No place in the world that can compare,
Put your lighters in the air, everybody say yeaaahh...
Damn, this game's slow.

A Thing of Beauty
Prada's new fragrance L'Eau Ambree is shown in this lovely smokey atomizer. It would be the perfect fragrance for me if I actually liked the scent. It is pleasing to my other senses though.

nite, nite.
Every girl could use a little Holly Golightly in her life, even in her sleep. This Holly GoNightly sleeping mask is just the trick.

tis the season
To visit PS1 in Queens and experience the James Turrell Meeting Room. Since it's getting dark so early, the full effect of the changing natural light can be seen. Don't forget to bundle up, it's open to the elements.

Fall Favorite
Leifsdottir is my new favorite brand this fall. Over the summer the love affair started when I wore a tulip print dress of theirs to a friend's wedding, and now I can't stop coveting this coat seen on the model on the left.

Monsters!
Nothing compliments flowers quite like monster trucks. I think this Curiosity Shoppe vase is adorable. I would use it to hold colored pencils.

Good Design, Bad Design
Frank Gehry has made an impressive career for himself as an architect. Ever since his jewelry line launched at Tiffany a few years ago, it's become apparent to me that his concepts may be best realized at a smaller scale and less functional purpose. No offense, Frank.

Fashion Flashback
Owned them as a kid, want them as an adult. Saddle shoes were part of my uniform in the '80s. 25 years later their wing tipped adult versions are pulling me in. But how to choose? Let's hope this is the most difficult decision I have to make today.

Jumping Ahead
Today's unseasonably chilly weather has made me want to snuggle up at home and get ready for... Christmas! I found these cards from IPV last year after I had already designed my own card, but I definitely want to use them this year. These moments are the perfect depictions of winter in Brooklyn. This might be my last year to send Brooklyn themed cards. Who knows what the next year will bring.

cafeteria graphic
I love the camera graphics on these silverware holders from AceroStudio. I just wish it was on something more functional than silverware holders. If only I were running a cafeteria...

Southern Boy
While the hubby & I were 'sploring in the Village this weekend, we came upon one of the most delightful (um, it has a bar) showrooms of all time. Billy Reid's clothing and store go together impeccably, and no season lends itself to this aesthetic more than Fall. Lucky us. The space is an old theater, the displays are antique apothecary cabinets, and the clothes are pure deliciousness.
The sumptuous interior
The bar!
A detail of the dress I would buy if I had a sugar daddy.
LEATHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These require an even older, uglier sugar daddy.

XF
Jaguar gave a presentation to Pratt students today about their 2010 XF. The guy giving the presentation was British, so he pronounced it Jag-u-ahhh, which was one of the highlights. Other than giggeling over accents, I was impressed with several things. The design team consists of about 5 people. Designers and engineers work side by side to create the lines of the car. Form follows function and all that. Jag's decision to modernise their brand is much overdue especially after years of having Ford turn their signature model into a thinly disguised Taurus. I think they're on the right track.
Sadly...
No more Gourmet magazine. Since I'm not one who knows their way around the kitchen, I always enjoyed the photography. It really got you salivating. I took a Gourmet inspired photo this summer at Big Sur's Nepenthe of my "Laura Chanel Goat Cheese and Roasted Whole Garlic" (Pecan topped goat cheese, slow-roasted Gilroy garlic and toasted baguette slices). Wish I was there now... but enough about me.

Prelude to Halloween
I came upon this spooky, (see the adorable spider web logo that appears on the sole) sexy footware by Charlotte Olympia. They're just the thing to get you into the Halloween spirit. Candy works too.
