"Taking inspiration from Dutch Vanitas paintings, these photographs incorporate personal artifacts within the traditional construct of still life. Pairing objects that belonged to my grandmother with my own possessions speaks to the concept of memory, familial legacy and the passage of time."

(Un)Still Life
I always enjoy checking out the exhibitions at the Brooklyn Public Library's central branch. (Un)Still Life just went up and I especially enjoy the works by Justine Reyes' Vanitas collection.
mini storage, big funny
I love Manhattan Mini Storage's ad campaign. They add a little humor to my not so hilarious N train rush hour commutes. I think it's one of the best NYC themed campaign of all time. Here's my most recent fave:

The Fun Part
There's definitely some perks to working for a fashion company. Especially when you're surrounded by things of this nature.
I also enjoy conversations with coworkers like this:
Me: I think that space would look better if it were open
Katie: But then you wouldn’t have any place to put gnomes
Me: We’re putting gnomes up there?
Katie: Duh.

Yummy Discovery
I came across these temptingly packaged chocolate bars at Bierkraft recently. I want to try every pattern... I mean flavor!

how civilized
This Decor Maison ad campaign shows a very civilized way to enjoy the outdoors. Now that's my kind of camping! I look forward to enjoying the regular tent variety camping next weekend. This would be a great time of year if it would just stop raining!

nail envy
I've been thinking of a way to perk up my manicure rut. I've found it in ombre glitter. I just picked up a dark grey shade of glitter that I look forward to playing with.
have your birthday and eat cake too
September has been a big month for birthdays at my office. There's been a lot of cakes to imbibe, but I think my favorite of the season has been the Momofuko birthday cake. I'll start thinking about working it all off in October. For now I'll just wear stretchy pants.
searching for a stool
My new apartment requires some personilization, and some duplicates of things I share with my husband. One thing is a stool. I think my budget is more Salvation Army, but it's still nice to look.

Bottoms Up!
These coasters would be a cute addition to watching the Giants game in a few minutes. I'm probably the only employee of a+o who watches the Giants. Maybe the guys in IT.
Pernilla Jansson
I guess blobby drippy forms are catching on in the world of lighting too. It would be a quirky twist to see these in some stuffy office space.

cosmic fashion
I love the cosmic looks from Setareh Mohtarez. Isn't fashion the most fun thing in the whole universe?!

Cape Cod Memories
My beach vacation this summer was spent on Cape Cod. I've gone there almost every summer for my whole life, and now I get to share my childhood favorites with my husband. Must dos are Mayflower Beach, the Sundae School, Kream n Kone, the Strawberry Patch and the Cape Cod Natural History Museum. This year I tried something new. We rented bikes and went for a 22 mile ride! I hadn't been on a bike in 20 years and it was a little freaky. I was whooped in the end, but it was a beautiful ride. Thanks for another wonderful trip, Cape Cod!

It's a Southern Thing
This is the explanation I get when I ask my Southern husband to explain why people have large collections of knives that they keep in a safe and never use. I don't quite get it, but I think this knife is actually quite nice. I'd at least display it prominently even if I never used it.

Birthday Love
I got lots of great presents and had a fun day at the US Open for my birthday on the 1st, but the best gift of all was spending the day with my husband. Awwww.
