Sweet Ombre Treat

This Valentine cake looks delicious to eat, but a total pain in the ass to make.  Luckily, I can just feast my eyes on this picture.

I heart this fabric

I love this fabric, but I love it even more upholstered on a chair.  This could be a really sweet idea to embelish a rocking chair for the nursery.

I'd Ride That

So, I'm probably the only adult in the world who finds bike riding kinda scary.  I like the idea of flying through the beautiful countryside, but it's too unnerving to actually be on one to fully enjoy the fantasy.  This guy lets you sit and use your hips like a segue.  Plus the way it folds up is pretty cool.  I'd give it a shot.

Fall Forward

Not that I'm eager to skip the summer, but I am eager to add some of these styles to my collection.

Snow Day!

Even though it's Saturday, a snow day is still pretty exciting.

Brooklyn Toile

Another genius creation by Beastie Boys' Mike D.

silly awesome

I wish I could find a reason to fit this chair into my life.  Still trying...

This One's For Ed

The epitomy of a New Yorker and my childhood mayor passed away today.  Here's to you, Ed.

Powder Photos

Sometimes you just need a pick me up image.  Especially when you have a cold and you're still stressfully working from home.  Here it is:

sew perfect

How sick would this look above a sideboard in a dining room?  Do you think it would get dusty?

Rockin'

Every nursery needs a stylish mid century modern rocker.  This one is quite stylish, but I'm scared I'd get stuck in it without the ab muscles to pull myself out!  It may be worth the risk.

Girls, Girls, Girls

My ever generous employer provided everyone in the company with this piece of eye candy today.  My favorite image inside was this gem staged in a row of brownstones on 58th St that were about to be demolished.

highlighting the spike

This necklace caught my fancy.  Can't resist a good spike!

secure

We've been busily getting our house in order including installing a security system.  Maybe we could have saved a few bucks and just gotten this doormat instead.

Lil Hipster

Not sure what I like more.  This rug, or its name, Lil Hipster.

vintage strawberry

I think I'll put this sweet treat on my list for Valentine's Day.

delicate fortune

These porcelain fortune cookies would look beautiful displayed on the mantle just like this.  I'd be torn between keeping them whole or breaking them to see what the psychic who wrote the fortunes envisions for me.

Coasting

Decorating our house is a fun and overwhelming process!  Sometimes it's easier to focus on the little things than say, a sofa.

Tasting

Last night I went out to my birthday dinner at Blue Hill at Stone Barns.  My birthday was in September, but that's the wait for a reservation.  We had the 5 course tasting menu, which was a feast of flavors.  We started with vegetables from the farm.

The setting is lovely in the winter.  Walking up the lantern lit path to the restaurant with a coating of snow on the ground was very cozy.

2013 is here!

We ushered in the new year today with good friends watching a marathon of Between Two Ferns and eating tiramisu.  It was a good beginning to what will be a great year!  Happy 2013!

So long 2012!

And what a year it was!  Many milestones, but 2013 will be the real life changer.  We're going up to Western Mass to spend New Year's Eve with friends.  It will be the most raucous New Years we'll have for a while- even with this monster head cold.  Happy New Year!

I have nothing to wear!

If only getting dressed were as easy as this.  Babies get to be so chic!  Off to pick out my New Year's Eve outfit...

the year of decorating

Having just moved into a new home, the year ahead is sure to involve lots of treasure hunting.  I'd love to have one of these, so I'll keep an eye out at the next garage sale.

oddly appealing

I'm not usually one to be taken by soaps, but this one is a lemon.  And it's on a rope.  An irresistible combo.

Drop of Color

These are the perfect earrings for New Year' Eve.  If I weren't headed up to Western Mass, I'd be sparkling it up!

Nutcracker #28

Last night I enjoyed my 28th performance of New York City Ballet's The Nutcracker.  Here are some sweet behind the scenes photos from a local news station's profile.

Read

On a cold snuggly evening, there's nothing better than curling up with your boo and a good book.

Classics

Even thought we just moved into our new house 5 minutes ago, it was mandatory that we watch some classic Christmas cinema.  Last night's viewing: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

xmas sweater mani

A new contestant in the ugly Christmas sweater competition... the Christmas sweater manicure.  This one's actually so bad it's good.

not this year!

I'm expecting a baby!  And during the holidays it means saying no to all the boozy sugary goodness that is so hard to resist.  It will all be worth it in the end, but it's also worth it now since I never end up feeling like this:

decorating dilemma

We just moved int our new house (yaaaay!) and we'll be ripping a bunch of ugly wood paneling off the walls in the living room next week (yaaaay!) but that kinda means putting up a tree is impractical (boooo!) but this is a great image where someone has just taken a string of lights and made a snuggly visual feast out of their bedroom.  I'll have to give my options some thought.

you shall be mine

See you after Christmas when my product allowance gets re-upped on 1/1!

A Very Brooklyn Christmas

We actually won't be in Brooklyn for Christmas this year, but I can't resist this gingerbread brownstone.

Day to Night

I know you!  Stephen Wilkes has captured some of my favorite cities in the most interesting of ways.

On the Prowl

I've been on the lookout for a vintage fur coat for several years.  I missed a crucial opportunity to get one at a great price when Petrune was overstocked the winter I lived in Ithaca.  Sadly, I was feeling poor then, so I restrained myself from snapping one up, but I'm hopeful that my future fur is hiding right around the corner.  Here's one that tickles me.

Retro Christmas Pillow

Since I can't get enough of all things Christmas, I've spied this woody Christmas pillow that I must own.  It would make a nice housewarming gift from myself.

So much to ask for?

I've been on the hunt for a pair of grey long leather gloves, and now that I've got the vintage camel cape of my dreams, the mission has become critical.  Here's the ideal pair from Lanvin.

Four Calling Birds

Three french hens, two turtle doves... can you tell how jazzed I am about the holiday season?  I can't have a tree of my very own just yet since we're waiting to move into our new home, but I've already purchased our holiday cards care of my employee perks, and plan to have them ready to go this week.

Make a Splash

The product images don't do this bowl justice, but when it's in context, it really makes a splash.
