This Valentine cake looks delicious to eat, but a total pain in the ass to make.  Luckily, I can just feast my eyes on this picture.

I heart this fabric

I love this fabric, but I love it even more upholstered on a chair.  This could be a really sweet idea to embelish a rocking chair for the nursery.

I'd Ride That

So, I'm probably the only adult in the world who finds bike riding kinda scary.  I like the idea of flying through the beautiful countryside, but it's too unnerving to actually be on one to fully enjoy the fantasy.  This guy lets you sit and use your hips like a segue.  Plus the way it folds up is pretty cool.  I'd give it a shot.

Decorating our house is a fun and overwhelming process!  Sometimes it's easier to focus on the little things than say, a sofa.

Last night I went out to my birthday dinner at Blue Hill at Stone Barns.  My birthday was in September, but that's the wait for a reservation.  We had the 5 course tasting menu, which was a feast of flavors.  We started with vegetables from the farm.

The setting is lovely in the winter.  Walking up the lantern lit path to the restaurant with a coating of snow on the ground was very cozy.

2013 is here!

We ushered in the new year today with good friends watching a marathon of Between Two Ferns and eating tiramisu.  It was a good beginning to what will be a great year!  Happy 2013!

So long 2012!

And what a year it was!  Many milestones, but 2013 will be the real life changer.  We're going up to Western Mass to spend New Year's Eve with friends.  It will be the most raucous New Years we'll have for a while- even with this monster head cold.  Happy New Year!

Having just moved into a new home, the year ahead is sure to involve lots of treasure hunting.  I'd love to have one of these, so I'll keep an eye out at the next garage sale.

decorating dilemma

We just moved int our new house (yaaaay!) and we'll be ripping a bunch of ugly wood paneling off the walls in the living room next week (yaaaay!) but that kinda means putting up a tree is impractical (boooo!) but this is a great image where someone has just taken a string of lights and made a snuggly visual feast out of their bedroom.  I'll have to give my options some thought.

I've been on the lookout for a vintage fur coat for several years.  I missed a crucial opportunity to get one at a great price when Petrune was overstocked the winter I lived in Ithaca.  Sadly, I was feeling poor then, so I restrained myself from snapping one up, but I'm hopeful that my future fur is hiding right around the corner.  Here's one that tickles me.

Three french hens, two turtle doves... can you tell how jazzed I am about the holiday season?  I can't have a tree of my very own just yet since we're waiting to move into our new home, but I've already purchased our holiday cards care of my employee perks, and plan to have them ready to go this week.
