And what a year it was! Many milestones, but 2013 will be the real life changer. We're going up to Western Mass to spend New Year's Eve with friends. It will be the most raucous New Years we'll have for a while- even with this monster head cold. Happy New Year!

I have nothing to wear!
If only getting dressed were as easy as this. Babies get to be so chic! Off to pick out my New Year's Eve outfit...

the year of decorating
Having just moved into a new home, the year ahead is sure to involve lots of treasure hunting. I'd love to have one of these, so I'll keep an eye out at the next garage sale.

oddly appealing
I'm not usually one to be taken by soaps, but this one is a lemon. And it's on a rope. An irresistible combo.

Drop of Color
These are the perfect earrings for New Year' Eve. If I weren't headed up to Western Mass, I'd be sparkling it up!
Nutcracker #28
Last night I enjoyed my 28th performance of New York City Ballet's The Nutcracker. Here are some sweet behind the scenes photos from a local news station's profile.

xmas sweater mani
A new contestant in the ugly Christmas sweater competition... the Christmas sweater manicure. This one's actually so bad it's good.
not this year!
I'm expecting a baby! And during the holidays it means saying no to all the boozy sugary goodness that is so hard to resist. It will all be worth it in the end, but it's also worth it now since I never end up feeling like this:
decorating dilemma
We just moved int our new house (yaaaay!) and we'll be ripping a bunch of ugly wood paneling off the walls in the living room next week (yaaaay!) but that kinda means putting up a tree is impractical (boooo!) but this is a great image where someone has just taken a string of lights and made a snuggly visual feast out of their bedroom. I'll have to give my options some thought.

A Very Brooklyn Christmas
We actually won't be in Brooklyn for Christmas this year, but I can't resist this gingerbread brownstone.
On the Prowl
I've been on the lookout for a vintage fur coat for several years. I missed a crucial opportunity to get one at a great price when Petrune was overstocked the winter I lived in Ithaca. Sadly, I was feeling poor then, so I restrained myself from snapping one up, but I'm hopeful that my future fur is hiding right around the corner. Here's one that tickles me.

Retro Christmas Pillow
Since I can't get enough of all things Christmas, I've spied this woody Christmas pillow that I must own. It would make a nice housewarming gift from myself.

So much to ask for?
I've been on the hunt for a pair of grey long leather gloves, and now that I've got the vintage camel cape of my dreams, the mission has become critical. Here's the ideal pair from Lanvin.
Four Calling Birds
Three french hens, two turtle doves... can you tell how jazzed I am about the holiday season? I can't have a tree of my very own just yet since we're waiting to move into our new home, but I've already purchased our holiday cards care of my employee perks, and plan to have them ready to go this week.

Happy Turkey!
I won't be celebrating Thanksgiving wearing this hat (cause it's gonna be 72 in Nashville! And, it's just silly), but I will be in a festive mood. Nothing makes me happier than celebrating with food. Bring it.

108 Wyckoff
Oh, Brooklyn! How I shall miss you! Don't get me wrong, I'm very excited to move on the the world of driveways and backyards, but I just don't know if I'll be encountering scenes like these on neighborhood walks in the 'burbs.
bead still my heart
A statement necklace is the perfect answer to dressing when your wardrobe is in flux. And when you want to make a statement.

I could make that
Or could I? I'm about to find out. Hopefully, the time to move into my new house is this weekend! Our overwhelming lack of furniture and house objects in general, plus lack of excitement for shelling out big bucks makes me ask, could I make that? about everything I come across. I think I could replicate the over saturation of this ABC color reform rug by dying over a lightly colored oriental rug. And the Marc Phillips rug would involve me getting all Jackson Pollack in the backyard. It will be an experiment!

mid century AWESOME
These cross stitch patterns are so ridiculously amazing. Too bad I would never actually stitch them. I hope they'll start selling them fully stitched.

Humor in the Month of November
My dad alerted me to this New Yorker cover. I've had the Norman Rockwell poster hanging in my childhood bedroom for years. Glad they picked up the reference for a good cause!

Aftermath
It's amazing to see all these dramatic photos of the storm, especially since my neighborhood in Park Slope had it easy. I say good morning and goodnight to Jane's Carousel as I pass on the Q train every day. I've never seen it like this. I hope this gem didn't get damaged too badly.

spook post storm
Nabbed this pic from a friend's facebook page, so I'm not sure what it is, candy? soap? but it's quite appealing... and spooky. Halloween's pretty much cancelled in NYC due to the hurricane aftermath, but maybe I'll add a scary movie to my Netflix marathon tonight.

Joe Mamma
I happened to be up at Woodbury Commons for work on Friday and got to visit the brand new Jack Spade outlet on its opening day. I scored this awesome tote that I was devastated I had missed at the regular store. Another example where good things come to procrastinators.

grey waves
What a lovely wallpaper print. Now that I'm on the verge of closing on a house, I'm in full design fantasy mode.

Coming Up Aces
It's been an intense period of travel for me lately. In the beginning of September I went to Seattle for the first time on a business trip. I stayed at the Ace hotel, which had some picture perfect views, but lacked a little functionality with no place to spread out toiletries in the bathroom. The National Geographics from the '70s were a bonus though.

Movin' On Up!
It appears as though I'm about to begin a new chapter in life. My life in the country (okay, suburbs) is about to begin. I'm excited to leave all the unpleasant city things behind (critters, noise) while having all the good things within reach (art, energy).
Bye bye, critters.
Bye bye, critters.

Summer of '68
Seriously though. Have you noticed the obsession with 1968? It's everywhere. I guess I missed out, but I'm glad my best years are ahead of me.
swirl skirt
I'm loving the swirly dyes that are en vogue right now. This skirt would be right at home in my closet.

sweater season (sort of)
The temperatures are gradually cooling, so it's time to start thinking about revoking my pledge not to buy any more sweaters.
College Daze
This print is of the diner near where I went to college. It's famous to me for a giant $2 plate of fries. It's famous to the world from Seinfeld, and Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner".

I Art This Birthday
I spent my birthday with great friends, great art, and the great outdoors. MASS MoCA has a fantastic exhibit of Sol Lewitt's work. Hurry, it's only going to stick around for another 25 years.
